{"id":566,"date":"2019-10-04T12:59:44","date_gmt":"2019-10-04T12:59:44","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/enqodle.in\/colosseum\/?p=566"},"modified":"2020-11-04T09:07:18","modified_gmt":"2020-11-04T09:07:18","slug":"the-roman-forum-via-fori-imperiali","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/colosseum.info\/es\/the-roman-forum-via-fori-imperiali\/","title":{"rendered":"The Roman Forum &#8211; Via Fori Imperiali"},"content":{"rendered":"<div class=\"vc_row wpb_row vc_row-fluid spcl-padding vc_custom_1602938283589\"><div class=\"about container wpb_column vc_column_container vc_col-sm-12\"><div class=\"vc_column-inner \"><div class=\"wpb_wrapper\">\n\t<div class=\"wpb_text_column wpb_content_element \" >\n\t\t<div class=\"wpb_wrapper\">\n\t\t\t<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The Via Fori Imperiali which runs from piazza Venezia to the colosseum, it is perhaps the most scenic road in Rome.\u00a0 Flanked on both sides by the ancient Roman city centre; on the left the imperial forums built by the emperors and on the right the forum of Caesar, the great forum (forum Romanum) and a portion of the forum of peace.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">This modern road, <\/span><b>built in 1932 by Mussolini<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> was completed for the 10th anniversary of Mussolini\u2019s Fascist party comping into power.\u00a0 The construction of the road destroyed one of the most densely populated neighbourhoods of the city, bulldozing through 19 city blocks formerly known as the \u2018<\/span><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Alessandrino\u2019<\/span><\/i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> quarter and displacing over 5,000 residents. <\/span><\/p>\n\n\t\t<\/div>\n\t<\/div>\n<\/div><\/div><\/div><\/div><div class=\"vc_row wpb_row vc_row-fluid spcl-padding vc_custom_1602938384589\"><div class=\"about container wpb_column vc_column_container vc_col-sm-12\"><div class=\"vc_column-inner \"><div class=\"wpb_wrapper\"><div class=\"vc_row wpb_row vc_inner vc_row-fluid\"><div class=\"manual-ul-div wpb_column vc_column_container vc_col-sm-6\"><div class=\"vc_column-inner vc_custom_1603701680384\"><div class=\"wpb_wrapper\">\n\t<div class=\"wpb_text_column wpb_content_element  vc_custom_1604480655728\" >\n\t\t<div class=\"wpb_wrapper\">\n\t\t\t<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The road also covers large portions of the Forums of Julius Caesar, Augustus, Vespasian (Peace), Nerva, and Trajan. Completed in only 11 months, the archaeologists did not have time to properly catalogue their findings; still decades later it is impossible to say which forum many artefacts came from. The bronze statues of the emperors that still decorate the road were added by Mussolini in an effort to pay tribute to the emperors whose forums he destroyed. One emperor is missing \u2013 Vespasian, father of the <\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Flavian Dynasty (COL?FLAV DYN)<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">; no statues of him were placed in his forum and Mussolini had no idea that the <\/span><b>Forum of Peace<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> was, in fact, <\/span><b>Vespasian\u2019s forum<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">.\u00a0\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n\n\t\t<\/div>\n\t<\/div>\n<\/div><\/div><\/div><div class=\"wpb_column vc_column_container vc_col-sm-6\" id=\"removeLeftMonPad\"><div class=\"vc_column-inner vc_custom_1602986380261\"><div class=\"wpb_wrapper\">\n\t<div  class=\"wpb_single_image wpb_content_element vc_align_left   manual_img_wd\">\n\t\t\n\t\t<figure class=\"wpb_wrapper vc_figure\">\n\t\t\t<div class=\"vc_single_image-wrapper   vc_box_border_grey\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"1286\" height=\"896\" src=\"https:\/\/colosseum.info\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/10\/Alessandrino-via-fori-imeriale.jpg\" class=\"vc_single_image-img attachment-full\" alt=\"\" srcset=\"https:\/\/colosseum.info\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/10\/Alessandrino-via-fori-imeriale.jpg 1286w, https:\/\/colosseum.info\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/10\/Alessandrino-via-fori-imeriale-300x209.jpg 300w, https:\/\/colosseum.info\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/10\/Alessandrino-via-fori-imeriale-1024x713.jpg 1024w, https:\/\/colosseum.info\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/10\/Alessandrino-via-fori-imeriale-768x535.jpg 768w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 1286px) 100vw, 1286px\" \/><\/div>\n\t\t<\/figure>\n\t<\/div>\n<\/div><\/div><\/div><\/div>\n\t<div class=\"wpb_text_column wpb_content_element \" >\n\t\t<div class=\"wpb_wrapper\">\n\t\t\t<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Tourism in Rome grew in the 1950\u2019s thanks to popular movies like \u2018Roman Holiday\u2019, by the 1960s the Via Fori Imperiali became one of the Grand Boulevards in Europe. Soon it was a main thoroughfare in Rome, with so much traffic that the monuments began to turn black from the exhaust fumes.\u00a0 By 2013, Rome had one of the worst traffic problems of Europe, with over 1,600 vehicles traversing Via Fori Imperiale every hour during peak times. When <\/span><b>Ignazio Marino<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">, became Mayor in 2013, his first official edict was to <\/span><b>ban public traffic<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> from Via Fori Imperiali. For only 15 Euro each or a combined 25 Euro, you can experience the multimedia projects in the forums of Augustus and Julius Caesar\/Trajan. The forum of Augustus allows visitors to purchase headsets and sit on bleachers in front of the forum and watch projections that transport you back to the time of Augustus explaining the history of this forum in a series of light and sound that enhances the total experience.
